[note: i'm just going to pick up here like i never left off...]
What light is there to throw today?
1. Headstands. I've long grumbled that I don't know how to do headstands properly. Today - instead of my usual "I'm grumpy because everyone's doing headstands and i can't" - I called out to my teacher with a smile and asked "Cindy, could you show me how to do headstands?" EGO: Ha Ha Ha! I dismissed you! As Dear Guruji says -- Ego can't be gotten rid of, but you just keep it in your pocket.
She showed me how. I smiled and laughed with her. Silly silly.
2. Being 100%: Chetana needed my full attention today. I just sat on the floor with her and engaged in the activities she initiated. I listened to what she had to say. I spoke clearly and directly to her about what I was doing and why. Pretty cool. I'd been feeling rather lonely recently. Seems that has a lot to do with living in my head ... i.e., brooding over the past and planning planning planning for the future. Yes, reviewing the past & planing the future are necessary activities...But, we all know when enough has crossed over enough and we are simply a broken record of repeated thoughts - which is the definition of worry.
3. Chetana says "opposites": it's the cutest thing to here. I highly recommend saying the word "opposites" out loud and enjoying that "s-t-s" sound and kind of dropping the "o's" out of the equation. It seems to please her as much as saying "pasta" - here, too, dropping the "a" in the middle and repeating the sound several times over. Any suggestions of similar sound-involved words to introduce her to?
My teacher Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (who I lovingly call Guruji – My most-respected teacher) says “Throw light on your own life….Reflect on your own life and honor the wisdom that life has offered you.” The occasion was July 15, 2011 Guru Poornima – the annual celebration of one’s spiritual growth. So, I’ve committed to throwing light on my life and see what shakes out. Let's see what happens...

Day 18: Friendliness, Day 2 – “Ahoy There, Neighbor!”
We’re notching up the friendliness meter. Today? Made sure to introduce ourselves to all the other kids & grown ups at the reading circle. Stopped the car & got out to say hello to our neighbor only to discover she’s celebrating her 80th Birthday on Saturday – Yahoo!
To be honest…I don’t think I’ve sent the Friendliness Meter off the charts. I’ve upped the top note a bit, but not through the roof – which is what I’m asking of myself.
Shine the Spotlight on Me!
Well, it’s more than Friendliness here. It’s Belongingness. (If that’s not a word, than let it now be so.) A sense of belonging. Like when I saw my friend after 20 years & we just fell into our old rhythm. That’s family. That’s belongingness. Not just pleasantries and “Hello, How are you.” But taking it to where Chetana is.
“That lady over there is as much my Cousin as my cousin,” Chetana would say if she could say. “I love everyone! I am love.” All babies got it. Which means all adults had it --- and, in fact, still have it. So, it’s just hiding in there under layers of EGO. “What if they laugh at me…” And all that stuff.
The Great Fear of Humiliation. Biggest fear there is --- public speaking. Why? Humiliation. Ego. Can’t get rid of your ego. And, for goodness sake, don’t try to. Just tuck it into your pocket.
So…Onward, Love Warrior! In Peace & Belongingness & Love! Let’s experience One World Family!
